Monday Evening Update

John's Injuries are listed below, along with some pictures of John, and the remains of the car and trailer. These pictures were taken this morning.
List of Injuries:
- Subdural hemorrhage (bleed inside the brain)
- Orbital Wall Fracture (Bone behind left eye)
- Basilar Skull Fracture (Base of the skull)
- Severe Bruising (most obvious being the left eye. Eyeball is not ruptured)
- Stitches on some cuts on his left arm
On Going Treatment and Issues:
- Intubated (breathing tube)
- Nasal Feeding Tube
- IV narcotics for pain (Fentanyl drip)
- Insulin Drip (blood sugars have been high)
- Dilantin Drip (prevents seizures)
- High Blood Pressure
- He's being weened off the ventilator, but its complicated by all the medication he's on
Prognossis (What we don't know yet)
The Subdural Hematoma may have caused damage that we are currently unaware of. It could affect speech, cognition, memory, balance, or may cause weakness on his right side. Right now John is not far enough along in his recovery to determine the various levels of damage. So far things look pretty good, but so far is not very far at all. We do want to make it clear that the doctors are very encouraged and John has been fighting hard to recover.

These pics really make it real.
While I was concerned and praying, I took it for granted that he would recover. Then I see him brused, intubated, and braced and the seriousness hits me.
Life is so fragile.
Reflecting back on these pictures taken earlier this week, and having seen him today, 4 days later, it shows how incredibly far he has come in such a short period.
I watched my dad for 3 months looking like that last picture, before he came out of coma, the doctorsaid it takes a month of rehibiltation for every week they are laid out.
